The Miracle of Agriculture Foundation (MAF), the charitable arm of the Utah Farm Bureau Federation (UFBF), recently worked with the Carbon and Emery County Farm Bureaus to donate more than 3,000 pounds of beef to the community food pantries in Price and Castle Dale.

Rural food pantries throughout Utah are often underserved or completely out of protein sources for families in need. It is estimated that three pounds will supply a family’s protein needs for one week. 1,000 pounds of protein (1/2 beef and ½ lamb) to two community food pantries in Carbon County -- the Carbon Food Bank & Trinity Food Bank -- while another 1,200 lbs. of beef was donated to the Emery County food pantry. Leaders from both County Farm Bureau Boards helped with the donations, which were very happily received by the pantries.

Jennie Christensen of Carbon County shared that the County Farm Bureau hoped to continue to make donations, especially from local students raising livestock for FFA & 4-H projects. For more information about donations to community pantries, contact Clayton Beckstead (clayton.beckstead@fbfs.com).
