Everywhere we turn the news reviews and discusses inflation and its current and potential impacts on the economy. Inflation in the United States has not reached the levels that were seen in the mid 1970s and early 1980s. During that time, interest rates climbed to 20%. In April 2022, Utah experienced inflation of 10.4% while the national average was at 8.5%. The Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce (of which the Utah Farm Bureau is a member) recently held a webinar sharing what can be expected moving forward and how inflation is being dealt with in the air transportation, food production, and the fuel industries.
The webinar featured Rikki Hrenko-Browning, President of the Utah Petroleum Association; Reed Forrester, Regional Sales Manager for Delta Air Lines; and Ron Gibson, President of the Utah Farm Bureau Federation.
