Sheila Sherwood, a pioneering dairy farmer and advocate for agriculture, has been recognized by Utah Business as one of the Most Influential Women of 2024. This prestigious award acknowledges women across Utah who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation and influence in their respective fields, and Sherwood is a shining example.
Sherwood is the owner and operator of Cedar Ridge Farms, a third-generation dairy farm in Nephi, Utah, home to 1,000 dairy cows. A dedicated advocate for agriculture, Sherwood has been a tireless leader for the dairy community, locally, nationally and internationally. Her leadership spans from her work on her farm to serving in leadership with the country’s largest co-op, Dairy Farmers of America, and on the boards of the Utah Dairy Commission and the National Dairy Board. She is also known for her early humanitarian work in Eastern Asia, where she helped improve food security through innovative farming practices.
“Sheila is a modern role model in agriculture, and her commitment to the future of dairy farming is inspiring,” said Karianne Fallow, CEO of Dairy West. “Her leadership and advocacy ensure that our local farmers have a voice, and her tireless efforts to feed our communities with safe and nutritious food are unmatched. On behalf of Dairy West, I want to congratulate Sheila on this well-deserved recognition and thank her for her unwavering service to the dairy industry.”
Sherwood's influence extends far beyond the walls of Cedar Ridge Farms. Known for her humility, curiosity and quiet leadership, Sherwood has consistently advocated for Utah’s farming community, helping to preserve local agriculture in the face of growing urbanization pressures. Her work, including the recent Utah Dairy Commission Economic Feasibility Study, aims to create sustainable pathways for Utah’s dairy farmers to thrive for generations to come.
This recognition highlights not only Sherwood's leadership and vision but also her deep care for her community and industry. Dairy West is honored to celebrate her achievements and looks forward to her continued impact on the dairy community and beyond.
