Recent cold weather events have challenged Florida’s farm families at a critical time during the growing season. While damage is still being assessed, early reports are significant -- possibly as high as a billion dollars.
The Florida Farm Bureau has established a disaster relief fund to assist Florida farmers and ranchers who have suffered significant agricultural losses or expenses due to weather-related events and other natural disasters. The Florida Farm Bureau Disaster Relief Fund, which is coordinated by the Women’s Leadership Committee, was created for anyone interested in contributing to farmers and ranchers who have suffered significant agricultural losses or expenses as a result of weather-related events and other natural disasters. Donations can be made via check or online.

The Florida Farm Bureau recently put out a statement about the weather disasters: “The recent and continuing cold weather events have challenged Florida’s farmers at a critical time during the growing season. Damage is still being assessed, but we know it is significant. Florida farmers and ranchers are resilient. Even in the face of unpredictable conditions, they continue to adapt to provide fresh, Florida-grown food for our communities."
