Use discolored or discarded jam in this recipe to help limit food waste!
1 c. jam
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. soda
2 c. flour (or a little more)
3/4 c. chocolate or other flavored chips
1/2 c. nuts (optional - to compliment flavor of jam)
Cream jam, shortening and egg. Add all other ingredients. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly brown. May need up to 1/4 cup of sugar if jam is less sweet.
