Wade Garrett named Director of Public Policy at Utah Farm Bureau
The Utah Farm Bureau is pleased to announce the hiring of Wade Garrett of Nephi as Director of Public Policy. Garrett is the former State Director for Congressman Jason Chaffetz.
Garrett will work with Sterling Brown, the current Vice President of Public Policy, and with Farm Bureau members to effectively develop and implement Farm Bureau policy with local, state and federal governments, and their many agencies. Garrett is supremely qualified to work on strengthening relationships with federal elected officials and staff, and to provide comments and testimony to the many issues impacting Utah agriculture.
“I am really excited to work for the Utah Farm Bureau. Admittedly, it is more of a homecoming than a new venture,” Garrett said. “Having been a Farm Bureau member for many years, I know of the organization’s ability to work with federal and state lawmakers on behalf of agriculture. I can’t wait to take the lessons I learned while working with congress for the direct benefit to our farmers and ranchers.”
Garrett grew up in Juab County on his family’s cattle ranch, where he’s been an official partner of the farm since 1992. The family raises 400 mother cows, and maintains a small feedlot in addition to farming 1,200 acres of grains and forage crops.
“We’re really excited to have Wade on board,” said Dale Newton, Chief Executive Officer for the Utah Farm Bureau. “His work experience and broad-based relationships – both in and outside of Farm Bureau – make him uniquely capable to hit the ground running. I’m confident he’ll deliver great service to our members.”
Garrett has degrees from Snow College and Utah State University. He and his wife Mandi served previously on the Utah Farm Bureau State Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee, and together they have four kids.
